Graphic Design Program Options

A friend of mine who has a degree in graphic design surprised me the other day when he shared information about the difficult time that he had in choosing a school. I had assumed that every Graphic Design Program was more or less the same. Boy, was I wrong!

He pointed out that even choosing which kind of school to attend had been hard. Some of the options he considered included the following:
  • Collins graphic design school. This is a school with a variety of different art degree programs including graphic design, game design, and visual arts.
  • State universities. Many state universities offer degrees in graphic design and related areas of business art.
  • Gibbs College Melville. This is a school that would offer a quick graphic design degree at a low cost.

In the end, he ended up choosing the most affordable school in the city where he lives. He figured that his goal was to get a degree in order to get a job and he could do that almost anywhere. But it was definitely a decision that took more consideration than I initially gave him credit for and he wanted to make sure that I knew it!

Choose Established New York Medical Career Programs

People who are interested in getting in to the health care field in New York will quickly find that they have a number of educational programs available to assist them in this pursuit. Numerous career colleges have opened in recent years to handle the wave of students interested in these types of programs. However, students should always look at more established New York medical career programs as opposed to those that have just opened in recent years.

For example, a student may want to look at a school like Sanford Brown. This school is so well established that it has multiple locations that have each been open for years. They have health care programs in Tampa, the Sanford Brown Institute Houston and of course the New York program. To attend a school like this that has a long history of placing its students in jobs across the nation is going to be a wise move to make as you enter a competitive field.

It's certainly possible that there are brand-new programs out there which offer a good education. After all, every school has to start somewhere. But when you're talking about something as serious as your education, you really don't want to take any chances. Go with the schools that have made a name for themselves in their field so you get the best education and the most satisfying job after your graduate.

Professional Baking and Pastry Program as a Niche Degree

Looking into available cooking schools for getting a culinary arts degree, I discovered that there are both general and niche degrees in this area of education. This surprised me since I figured that a culinary degree is itself a niche degree. However, with the prevalence of these types of programs and the sheer number of restaurants out there, the culinary degree has actually become less specialized. That has resulted in specialization within the industry. For example, looking into culinary arts training in Florida, I discovered that it's possible to get a degree just in pastry baking.

It seems to me that there are pros and cons of getting a niche degree such as a certificate from a Professional Baking and Pastry Program. On the positive side, a niche degree can make you more appealing to employers who specialize in that type of restaurant. Additionally, your specific expertise in the area could allow you to charge more for your services than if you only had a general degree. On the flip side, though, getting a specialized degree may limit your employment choices in a fluctuating job market. That could be a risk that a culinary student wouldn't want to take. The solution seems to be to pursue a general culinary degree but also to get certified in a niche area, effectively covering all of your bases.
